I think Chocolate is a vegetable, and that you should have some every day… its made from a bean so that = vegetable. I love my daughter and husband so much, I feel like I'm going to burst when I look at them. I fall in love with
my clients, and have this horrible habit of treating everyone like they are my best friend. I'm a creative speller, I laugh too loud, and I talk too fast. I'm known for noticing every detail, and thinking of everything.
Haydn (my husband) and I still leave love notes for each other (we met in 2002). He makes me a better person, always supports me, and gives me the courage to do the things I didn't think I could. Our daughter, Taylor, gives the best hugs, and knows how to make you feel special.
I started my business in 2002 when Haydn's best friend, Shane Hockey, came over and announced "I have booked you a wedding." I owe Shane a lot, he is responsible for sparking 2 of my loves: my business, and he gave Haydn the encouragement to come and talk to me for the first time. Thank you Shane! And yes Haydn and I met in a bar, I know so romantic.
Hadyn was so excited after he bought my engagement ring, he couldn't wait to ask me. So he did it while I was weeding the garden. He came over and started to say nice things about me, and I made fun of him. Haydn said, "Your the most amazing person I have ever met"... I replied "so far" etc. Then, frustrated with my joking, he asked me, and I started to cry...it had only been a year, and I didn't expect it. I said yes. We where married in my Dad's backyard, in
Manitoba, in 2006.
Our first 'Kid' a cat named Houdini is a large black fur ball, yes his eyes are crossed, and he is so adorable everyone wants to take him home. He used to play fetch, but still comes running to the door when you get home.
My pregnancy with Taylor helped me understand what my clients are going through. It has changed my maternity photography. Before, I saw beauty in the changing form of the body, now I see more; I see the love, emotion, and details of a changing life, and understand that feeling of being completely freaked out and so full of love you want to explode.
It has also changed the way I do newborn photography. I now capture all the details of the baby, but also the room. All the carefully selected items for the new addition to the family. Life is so amazing and fantastic, and I'm grateful that I get to document your changing life.
I love to take care of people, to anticipate needs. My camera bag is full of little things I know you will need just in case… super glue, kleenex, pins… Chocolate! I'm more than just a photographer and artist, I become your friend, creating moments that you will remember forever.
I love it when I can capture people's spirit and personality in the images. When I
can show a woman how beautiful she looks, and how her husband sees her- Perfect and Stunning. I think everyone is beautiful, and my magic camera will show you what I see - perfection!
My 2nd Shooter Adam Turner
Adam is a talented Photographer, a Father, an Artist, a Diet Coke Addict, he's always Prepared, a Friend, a Superhero, and the life of the party.
In 2009, when I thought my world was crashing down and everything was going wrong, I met Adam. He swooped in when I needed a new 2nd shooter and, without missing a beat, he started photographing with me, and acting like he had always been there. Thanks to Nicole Brown for giving him up for me! You rock.
He is one of those people that instantly becomes your friend. He lights up a room when he walks in, and can always make a crowd laugh. He is so good at creating moments that you will remember, he knows how to make you have fun, and it shows in his photographs. He cares about everyone and thinks of everything.
Every client raves about how much fun they had with him, and his images are so full of emotion. He has a fantastic attitude, and swoops in to save me when I try to compliment someone and it goes wrong. He gets everything I miss - and makes sure I don't fall when I perch on the edge of something to get the
perfect shot. Haydn thanks him for that!
My name is Adam Turner
I have been asked to write about myself, to let you know a little about who I am. I am a person who wears his heart on his sleeve, who cares for a person within one minute of meeting them.
I have spent my whole life learning art in many different facets; When I was a child I had Huge ambitions! I told my parents what I wanted to do: That was... be the owner of a pizza restaurant and live in a
motor home outside of it. Ha ha, well things didn't turn out that way.
No, not at all that way, I still enjoy pizza (especially the thin crust whole wheat), but my passions have changed. Now, I bet, as you're reading this you're thinking, he's going to go off about all the time he spent at school learning about photography, and all the classes he took... Well your wrong. I actually wanted to be a chef, and I attended Camosun College after graduating high school, and ended up with my red seal papers in cooking. I worked and trained in many of the restaurants and hotels around Victoria BC.
I still Love cooking. It has always been about pres
entation with me. Just ask my family, I even add height to their plates. Every night I still make their dinners look awesome, and I don't let them eat until they look at it and critique it. Then I listen, because if my son (age 9) and daughter (age 12) don't talk, it's because they are too busy eating, which means.. that I have created another master piece. They are my biggest critics!
It wasn't long before I realised that food presentation and photography have a lot in common! It's always about presentation and not missing the details, capturing faces when they smile, and all the hard work that goes into what the person or people have created; Whether it's a wedding, or family portraits, or a simple landscape, or making an accounting firm look like a fun place to do business.
Thus I have spent my whole life working for my loves: life, family, art, people, pets (I have two dogs), humour, joy, and the latest technologies (I'm on a first name basis with the people at future shop) . And wouldn't you know it, but it all ties in with my passion for being a photographer! I enjoy what I do, and the truth is that it shows. When you meet me, you will understand that I work for you, because you and your family are important to me - As my family is to me... I totally love you Joanne and my children Alexis and Hollis.
I want to thank all of you that made it to the end of this, and Melanie who believes in me and my work. Orange Frog Studio Inc is not just a funny name for a company, but a company that is rewarding and fun to work with, I have never been happier at work. Adam Turner.
